About Metro Motors Canada

Metro Motors Canada builds fully electric commercial vehicles for the way fleets actually work – trucks, vans, and shuttles that are clean, road-legal, and assembled right here in Canada. We are a Canadian company with deep manufacturing roots, focused on one goal: an electric work platform that does not ask operators to give anything up.

Decades of building real trucks

Our team comes from Metro Tow Trucks, a Canadian manufacturer of towing and recovery equipment sold to operators around the world. Building rugged commercial bodies – hydraulics, steel, aluminum, and composites – is what we have always done. The ZM8 is that same hands-on manufacturing discipline applied to electric drive.

Manufacturing we control

Our group has operated its own heavy-industry manufacturing facility since 2009, giving us direct control over how our vehicles are built – not just assembled from someone else’s parts. Final assembly and equipment installation are completed in Canada.

A partnership built to last

In April 2026, in Guangzhou, Metro Motors signed a binding manufacturing partnership with leading electric-vehicle and powertrain partners - a signing witnessed by senior Canadian trade officials. It is the foundation that lets us bring a proven electric commercial platform to Canada with the supply chain and engineering support to back it.

Why electric, why now

Fleets are under real pressure to cut emissions and fuel costs without losing capability. Most electric work vehicles make operators trade away payload, range, or the ability to run their equipment. The ZM8 was engineered so they do not have to.
